A Few Notes on the Lenovo Ideapad Slim Running Debian 12 Linux

This   low cost netbook works well running Linux once the S3 sleep mode in the bios is enabled

I bought one of these when my travel PC went astray at an airport. It worked well as as a stopgap. It was a bit annoying that the PC would not enter sleep mode. It turned out this was a deliberately introduced problem involving Microsoft,AMD and Linux. The workaround given at https://valinet.ro/2020/12/08/Enable-S3-sleep-on-Lenovo-Yoga-Slim-7-14are05.html worked well for me, and helped me decide to make better use of 40g of no longer needed disk space.

Debian linux loads without bugs (apart from sleep), so long as a recent version is used. The glidepad works well.



The inbuilt webcam is good.
Battery lifetime and wifi range are also good.
